August 25, people across the US celebrate Whiskey Sour Day every year. The Whisky Sour is a drink that has an excellent pedigree. The first mention of a whiskey sour was in an 1870 Wisconsin newspaper. With the egg white, it is sometimes called a Boston Sour.
Whiskey sours are shaken then either served straight or over ice.
The traditional garnish is half an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
