October 24 United Nations Day

October 24 United Nations Day

Today day is October 24 United Nations Day observed, annually anniversary of the founding of the United Nations in 1945.
On this day many activities are organized by all parts of the UN, particularly in the main offices in New York, the Hague (Netherlands), Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria) and Nairobi (Kenya). These include: concerts; flying the UN flag on important buildings; debates on the relevance of the work of the UN in modern times; and proclamations by state heads and other leaders.

UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, 2001 and its following dialogues has become the core mandate of the UNESCO. And in celebrating the United Nations Day, the world is encouraged to celebrate these core principles of inter-cultural understanding and synthesis and a larger and more acute sense of being in the world, of belonging to a family, the largest family, the universe.
The United Nations works for the entire human family of seven billion people and cares for the Earth, our one and only home. ~ Secretary
-General Ban Ki-moon
