July 6 Fried Chicken Day

Fried Chicken Day is observed each year on July 6th. Scottish immigrants brought their tradition of deep-frying chicken in fat to the southern United States. On this day, fried chicken lovers across the country celebrate this American favorite at a nearby restaurant, home or an outdoor picnic.

Fried chicken is a dish that consists of chicken pieces which have been floured or battered then pan-fried, deep-fried or pressure-fried. The breading adds a crisp coating to the exterior of the chicken.

July 5 Apple Turnover Day

Each year On July 5 people observed Apple Turnover Day, also called hand pies because they are so portable.

Made as under say…

Peel and core 1 large apple cut it into 1/4-inch dice. In a bowl, stir together apple chunks, 3 tbs dried cranberries, 3 tbs heated apple jelly, 1 tbs cornstarch, and 1/8 tsp cinnamon.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out pastry and cut into 6 parts. You need roughly 4-inch squares. Divide the apple filling among pastry squares, leaving a 1-inch border. Brush border with lightly beaten egg. Cut 2 tbs cold unsalted butter into bits and dot filling with it. Fold each square into a triangle and crimp edges, using a fork. Cut a couple of slits in top of each turnover. Brush lightly with egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 °F until puffed and golden. Let cool to warm and enjoy

Sunbathers were wearing modest two-piece suits by World War II in the United States, but they hardly revealed the amount of skin the bikini revealed on July 5, 1946. While Europe enthusiastically donned the bikini after a long and arduous world war, American’s sense of decency kept them from accepting the bikini until the 1960s. 

July 4 Country Music Day

Country Music Day is celebrated July 4th of each year. Country Music Day dates back to the 1950′s when the Country Music Deejay Association commemorated Jimmie Rodgers and country music. This is a vibrant event that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Spareribs come from the belly side of pig's rib cage. They are longer, flatter and heavier, than baby back ribs. By the way, fat makes spareribs less expensive than baby back ribs, but it enriches the flavor.

The term spareribs may relate to the spare amount of meat on them. However, spareribs are very popular for barbecue. They are sold smoked that makes them perfect to grill. Serve barbecued spareribs with sauce and enjoy your meal. Try to cook spareribs as long as possible, because they will only benefit from a long cooking time at a low temperature.

July 3 Fried Clam Day

Fried Clam Day is observed annually on July 3rd. Fried clams are an iconic food in the New England states. 101 years and six generations later clams are still frying at Woodman’s, where it all began.

In 1914, Lawrence Henry “Chubby” Woodman and his wife Bessie opened small concession sand on Main Street in Essex, Massachusetts. On week-ends they sold small grocery items, homemade potato chip and fresh clams that Chubby dug himself. At first business was slow but on July 3, 1916, things began to change.

Postal Worker Day is observed annually on July 1st. This is a day to appreciate and thank the numerous men and women who work consistently and diligently deliver all of our mail and packages. These employees suffer some of the harshest working conditions, yet continue to persevere six days a week.

June 30 Meteor Watch Day

Meteor Watch Day is observed every year on June 30. A meteor or “shooting star” is the visible streak of light from a heated and glowing meteoroid falling through the Earth’s atmosphere; it is also call a “shooting star”.

these shooting stars are actually very small like small stone. The size of the meteoroid can vary the size of a closed fist to the size of a pebble. Thousands of meteoroids enter the Earth’s atmosphere on a daily basis, but very few of them actually reach the surface; but when they do, they are called “meteorites.”

Around 15,000 tons of meteoroids enter the Earth’s atmosphere every day. The chemical composition and the speed of the meteoroid will cause different hues to the light.

Possible colors and elements producing them include: Orange/yellow (sodium), Yellow (iron), Blue/green (copper), Purple (potassium) and Red (silicate).
