August 8 Frozen Custard Day

August 8 Frozen Custard Day

August 8 Frozen Custard Day, delicious and refreshing cold dessert is celebrated annually. Frozen custard is a type of frozen dessert that was invented by ice cream vendors Elton and Archie Kohr from Coney Island, New-York.
Frozen custard was invented in 1919 but it had been unknown to the wide public until 1933. Frozen custard is commonly prepared fresh at the place of sale. Most stands offer three flavors per day: vanilla, chocolate, and “flavor of the day”.

According to the Food and Drug Administration requirements, frozen custard must contain at least 1.4% egg yolk solids and 10% milk fat. True frozen custard is a very dense dessert with a smooth consistency and a thick, creamy texture. It is typically prepared right at frozen custard stands, rather than stored.
