This holiday falls on the birthday of Reddi-wip founder Aaron “Bunny” Lapin. Aaron who invented Reddi-wip in 1948, was born on January 5, 1914, and died on July 10, 1999.
Whipped cream has been around for ages. But it was in 1946, when the aerosol can be first invented by Aaron Lapin, that sales and popularity of this dessert delight really took off. Whipped cream has continued to transform desserts and hot drinks from the merely ordinary to something truly special.
The English name whipped cream found its beginning in 1673. The name snow cream continued to be used throughout the 17th century.

January 4 Spaghetti Day

The word spaghetti is plural for the Italian word spaghetto, which is a diminutive of spago, meaning “thin string” or “twine”. In One year 2000, 1.3 million pounds of spaghetti were sold in American grocery stores.
There are a variety of different pasta dishes that are based on spaghetti from spaghetti ala Carbonara or garlic and oil to spaghetti with tomato sauce, meat sauce, Bolognese, Alfredo sauce, clam sauce or other sauces. Spaghetti dishes are traditionally served topped with grated hard cheeses such as Pecorino Romano, Parmesan and Grana Padano.
The first historical reference to boiled noodles (found in the Jerusalem Talmud) suggests that the Arabs invented the dish thousands of years ago.

Fruitcake is a cake made with chopped candied fruit and/or dried fruit, nuts, and spices, and soaked in spirits. The earliest fruitcake recipe dates back to ancient Romans. It was made with barley mash, raisins, pine nuts, and pomegranate seeds. In middle Ages, spices, honey, and preserved fruits were used.
Typical American fruit cakes are rich in fruit and nuts. In the United States, the fruit cake has been a ridiculed dessert. Some attribute the beginning of this trend with The Tonight Show host Johnny Carson. He would joke that there really is only one fruitcake in the world, passed from family to family.
